Cooking steps

  • 1. In a large skillet, cook the diced bacon until crispy. Remove bacon and set aside, leaving the bacon fat in the skillet.

  • 2. Season the beef short ribs with allspice, salt, and pepper. Sear the ribs in the skillet with the bacon fat until browned on all sides. Remove from skillet and set aside.

  • 3. In the same skillet, add the garlic, onion, and bell peppers. Cook until softened.

  • 4. Return the beef short ribs to the skillet. Add beef broth, soy sauce, and sugar. Cover and let simmer for 20 minutes, or until ribs are tender.

  • 5. Mix cornstarch with water to make a slurry. Stir into the skillet to thicken the sauce. Add the cooked bacon and shredded cheese. Stir until cheese is melted.

  • 6. Serve the beef short ribs with the sauce over cooked rice. Enjoy!
