Cooking steps

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

  • Cook the lasagna sheets according to package instructions, then set aside.

  • For the Bechamel Sauce:

  • In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.

  • Add the flour and whisk continuously for about 2 minutes to cook off the raw flour taste.

  • Gradually pour in the milk while whisking constantly to avoid any lumps.

  • Continue cooking and whisking until the sauce thickens.

  • Season with salt, pepper, and nutmeg to taste.

  • Remove from heat and set aside.

  • For the Bolognese Sauce:

  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.

  • Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, sauté until translucent.

  • Add the ground beef and pork, and cook until browned and cooked through.

  • Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, dried basil, dried oregano, salt, and pepper.

  • Simmer for about 15 minutes to allow flavors to meld.

  • To Assemble:

  • Spread a layer of Bolognese sauce on the bottom of a baking dish.

  • Place a layer of cooked lasagna sheets on top of the sauce.

  • Spread a layer of Bechamel sauce over the lasagna sheets.

  • Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used, ending with a layer of Bechamel sauce on top.

  • Sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese over the Bechamel sauce.

  • Cover the baking dish with foil and bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes.

  • Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes to brown the top.

  • Garnish with fresh basil leaves before serving.

  • Slice and enjoy!
